John Weber was remanded to the custody of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. After a brief stay at the Dodge Reception Center, the convicted cannibal killer was transferred to the maximum security Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage. He was joined there by another Wisconsin cannibal, Jeffrey Dahmer, following his conviction in 1992. Dahmer was murdered by an inmate on November 28, 1994. In February 2001, John Weber was transferred to the maximum-security Green Bay Correctional Institution.

Emily divorced John shortly after he was convicted. She still lives in Wisconsin, as do her parents and Marguerite and Lawrence Weber.

Circuit Court Judge Gary Carlson is still on the bench.

Price County District Attorney Paul Barnett left Phillips to become an assistant attorney general in Madison.

Chief of Police Craig Moore retired in January 2005. He believes the woods around Phillips hold at least one more body that was put there by John Weber—Shelly Hansen. She disappeared one year to the day after Carla Lenz went missing. Was it just a coincidence? “Lawmen don’t believe in coincidences,” he says.
